Three Unforgettable Days, One Big Mission
From 26th to 28th September 2025, ASCOMOS 2025 brought the medical community together in Johor Bahru, turning the city into a space filled with knowledge, passion, and purpose. Organized by the Malaysian Oncological Society, ASCOMOS is held once a year, rotating between Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Johor, and every year, it just gets better.

A Powerful Theme
The theme this year, “Democratising Cancer Care: Closing the Global Oncology Gap,” carried a powerful message. From the start of the morning sessions, speakers and doctors shared honest, eye-opening insights about how we can make cancer treatment more equal and accessible for everyone no matter where they are. Across three days, attendees filled the grand ballroom to hear from inspiring speakers from thought leaders addressing the global oncology gap to experts sharing breakthrough treatments and survivorship care strategies. Every session added a new layer of understanding about science, society, and the shared journey of healing.

Energy That Filled the Halls
Throughout the day, the halls were filled with energy from inspiring talks to insightful discussions. Everywhere you turned, there was something happening. Doctors, researchers, and healthcare professionals were exchanging ideas, reconnecting, and exploring new solutions. As a media platform that focuses on healthcare, DocTok attended ASCOMOS 2025 to capture these moments, the ones that often go unseen behind every success. We wanted to meet the people who make progress possible, the doctors who dedicate their lives to research, the pharmacists bringing innovations to life, and the organizations working quietly behind the scenes to improve access and care.

When DocTok walked into the venue, we could immediately feel the sense of excitement. The booth area was one of our favourite spots. It had lots of stories awaiting to be shared, was engaging, and was beautifully decorated. We took the chance to walk around, talk to people, and capture real moments from the event. We had the privilege of interviewing doctors, pharmacists, and healthcare advocates, asking them about their thoughts on ASCOMOS 2025. Many told us how meaningful it was to attend, not only for professional growth, but for the chance to exchange ideas, meet colleagues, and celebrate progress together.

One thing that stood out was the sense of community. Throughout the day, we witnessed support groups introducing their missions, healthcare organisations sharing initiatives, and medical experts speaking passionately about survivorship, wellness, and quality of life. These stories reminded us that medicine is more than treatments. It's about hope, empathy, and teamwork. Between sessions, you could hear laughter and see old friends reconnecting, making ASCOMOS 2025 not just a scientific congress, but a celebration of purpose.

Little Moments That Brought Joy
One of the most memorable parts? The delicious breakfast and lunch served throughout the event! These moments not only kept everyone energized but also gave participants the chance to connect casually, exchange experiences, and build new friendships. The DocTok team spent the weekend exploring, chatting, and learning from the people behind the booths. We listened to their stories, why they joined, what inspired their work, and how events like ASCOMOS help build a stronger healthcare community. Every conversation reminded us that beyond science, healthcare is about people, their passion, purpose, and connection.

Lessons That Last
Each conversation taught us something new. We saw how much effort goes into improving patient care, how events like ASCOMOS help spark collaboration, and how proud everyone felt to be part of Malaysia’s growing healthcare ecosystem. For Doctok, it was an opportunity to hear, learn, and our mission to improve the accessibility and visibility of healthcare.

Fun With Purpose
And of course, we couldn’t leave without adding a little DocTok fun! We invited participants to wear our ASCOMOS 2025 sunglasses and strike a pose for a short trendy video. It became one of the event’s most joyful highlights with good energy, and memories that are worth keeping. For us at DocTok, this experience went beyond coverage. It was a meaningful journey, one where we met potential collaborators, gained insights into the evolving oncology field, and witnessed the incredible spirit driving Malaysia’s medical community forward.

More Than an Event — A Movement
As the curtains closed on ASCOMOS 2025, one thing became clear, this is more than an annual event. It’s a movement. It’s a reflection of Malaysia’s strength, a healthcare community that learns together, grows together, and celebrates together.
