KUALA LUMPUR, 4 February 2026 — Project Blue Dot, a prostate cancer awareness and screening initiative led by the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja (RCKLDR), has officially expanded nationwide through a collaboration with the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) and BIG CARiNG Group. The milestone took place during World Cancer Day 2026, themed “United by Unique”, held at Balai Budaya Tun Syed Nasir, Wisma DBP, Kuala Lumpur, and officiated by YB Datuk Seri Dr Haji Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health. This highlighted the initiative’s commitment to early detection and accessible screening for men across Malaysia.

Prostate cancer often develops silently in its early stages, making regular screening a crucial step in protecting health. Project Blue Dot’s nationwide rollout ensures that men, especially those aged 45 and above and those in higher-risk groups, have easier access to PSA screenings and professional guidance.

NCSM’s Role in Driving Cancer Awareness & Community Action

As one of Malaysia’s leading cancer advocacy organisations, NCSM’s World Cancer Day 2026 platform brought together stakeholders from across multiple sectors for a meaningful national programme. The event featured discussions on cancer prevention strategies, financing and access to care, mental health support, nutrition, and holistic patient management.

“The nationwide expansion of Project Blue Dot represents an important milestone in advancing cancer awareness and early detection efforts throughout Malaysia. At NCSM, we believe that impactful cancer prevention starts within communities, strengthened by collaborative partnerships and continuous public engagement,” said Kol. Bersekutu (PA) Prof. Dr. Murallitharan Munisamy, Managing Director of the National Cancer Society Malaysia.

From Community Pilot to Nationwide Programme

Project Blue Dot began as a community-driven initiative in the Klang Valley, where more than 1,000 men participated in PSA screening. The findings were significant. Over 100 participants recorded elevated PSA levels, and approximately 10 to 11 individuals were subsequently diagnosed with prostate cancer. These outcomes highlighted the urgent need to expand the programme beyond the Klang Valley and improve access to early screening for men nationwide.

Dato’ Dr Prakash Rao, President of the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja, shared that the collaboration reflects Rotary’s commitment to delivering long-term and measurable healthcare impact.

Project Blue Dot is grounded in a simple but powerful principle, early detection saves lives. Through this partnership, we are better positioned to reach more men efficiently, while ensuring stronger coordination for timely follow-up care,” he said.

Project Blue Dot Director, Pradeep Balaram, described the nationwide expansion as an important next phase in scaling a movement that has already demonstrated meaningful results at the community level.

The success of the pilot programme also showed that awareness alone is not enough. Men are more likely to participate in screening when it is convenient, approachable, and supported by trusted healthcare providers. This insight has shaped the nationwide strategy, which integrates clinical oversight, community engagement, and accessible screening locations to encourage earlier detection and timely intervention.

Making Screening Accessible and Approachable

The nationwide programme brings PSA screenings to everyday community spaces. Selected BIG Pharmacy and CARiNG Pharmacy outlets now serve as screening touchpoints, alongside outreach events organised by Rotary Club of KL DiRaja. These locations are designed to make men feel comfortable taking the first step toward checking their health.

All screenings are reviewed under the clinical guidance of NCSM. Participants receive counselling, risk assessment, and referrals when necessary. Individuals with elevated PSA levels are referred to partner hospitals for follow-up care, including specialist consultations and diagnostic procedures. Eligible patients may also receive financial support and ongoing guidance throughout their treatment journey.

By bringing screenings closer to the community, Project Blue Dot aims to normalise conversations about men’s health, reduce hesitation, and encourage proactive participation in early detection programmes.

Turning Awareness Into Action

Project Blue Dot is more than just an awareness campaign. It is a movement designed to produce measurable outcomes. Through community engagement, professional oversight, and accessible screening, the initiative ensures that awareness leads to action. Every screening has the potential to detect prostate cancer early, giving men the best chance at treatment and recovery. It is a step toward saving lives, protecting families, and empowering men to take control of their health.

The initiative’s leadership, including Dato’ Dr Prakash Rao (President, Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja), Pradeep Balaram (Project Blue Dot Director), Aiman Manan (Strategic Partnership & Mobilisation Lead), and Dr Malwinder (“The Bald Oncologist”) (Project Lead), emphasizes that early detection is the key to reducing prostate cancer-related mortality. The collaboration with BIG CARiNG Group and NCSM strengthens the programme’s reach and credibility, creating a nationwide network for prostate health advocacy.

Supporting Wider Community Reach

Mr. Chong Yeow Siang, Chief Operating Officer of BIG CARiNG Group, said, “When we first introduced Project Blue Dot in the Klang Valley together with NCSM and the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja, our focus was on making the first step towards screening simple and approachable, allowing men to check their PSA levels at places they already know and trust. The response clearly showed that convenience plays a crucial role in overcoming hesitation.”

He added, “We are encouraged by the positive impact achieved so far and are excited to see the initiative expand nationwide. Our BIG and CARiNG Pharmacy doors will continue to serve as accessible screening touchpoints, while also encouraging earlier conversations around prostate health and the importance of early detection.”

Join the Movement

Project Blue Dot continues to welcome collaboration from corporate organisations, healthcare partners, and community groups that share its mission of promoting men’s health and early cancer detection. By working together, more Malaysian men can access life-saving screenings and guidance, no matter where they live.

Taking the first step toward prostate health has never been easier. Whether through a nearby pharmacy, community outreach event, or hospital referral, Project Blue Dot brings screening closer to home, and closer to saving lives.
