On 23 August 2025, the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja (RCKLDR) pulled off a night to remember at Renaissance Hotel KL, where tradition met disruption, and one small dot became the start of a much bigger movement.

The event was no ordinary installation ceremony. It marked the club’s 98th year in action, the handover to its brand-new President, and the official birth of Project Blue Dot, a bold mission to put prostate cancer awareness front and centre in Malaysia.

A Royal Touch & Rotary Spirit
The evening carried serious star power. The Guest of Honour, Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Dato’ Seri Utama Naquiyuddin of Negeri Sembilan, lent royal prestige, while District Governor Edward Khoo, ambassadors, dignitaries, and over 75 Rotarians from sister clubs across Asia brought the global fellowship vibes.

Outgoing President Dr. Alaric A. Nathan signed off with gratitude and grace, looking back at a year that weathered challenges but delivered impact. Then, in a symbolic passing of the torch, Dato’ Dr. Prakash Rao was officially installed as the 98th President of the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja.

His message? Rotary needs to go bold, push boundaries, and serve communities with courage not just tradition.

Enter Project Blue Dot 💙
And bold he was. Dr. Prakash wasted no time introducing his Presidential Project: Project Blue Dot, a national movement to tackle men’s health head-on by raising awareness on prostate cancer.

“This evening isn’t simply about formality, it’s about purpose,” he said. “It is about lighting a flame that will shine across Malaysia. Project Blue Dot is our promise to bring prostate cancer out of the shadows and into the spotlight where it belongs.”

Why “Blue Dot”? Because in a sea of silence, one dot of awareness can spark a wave of conversation. The ballroom itself transformed into a glowing sea of blue, from décor to lighting, symbolising clarity, compassion, and hope.

Breaking Stigma, Building Partnerships
This isn’t just a campaign for hashtags and photo ops. Project Blue Dot has already rallied some heavyweight partners, including Prince Court Medical Centre, Premier Integrated Labs, National Cancer Society Malaysia, and Dr. Malwinder (a.k.a. The Bald Oncologist). Together, they’re uniting to drive education, encourage early screening, and break the stigma surrounding men’s health.

Behind the Scenes
Every big night needs a mastermind and that was Installation Organising Chair Rtn. Aiman Manan, whose eye for detail ensured the event was as seamless as it was meaningful. Meanwhile, Project Director Rtn. Pradeep Balaram has been tasked with steering Project Blue Dot into the national spotlight and let’s just say, he’s not playing small.

One Dot. One Movement. One Legacy.
From the royal blessing to the bold roadmap ahead, the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja made one thing clear: this isn’t just another ceremonial event. It’s the start of a movement.
