Three Days, Many Questions and a Lot of Smiles at Healthy Vibes Carnival 2026

For three days at the end of October, the ground floor of The Starling Mall turned into one big conversation about health. Healthy Vibes Carnival 2026 ran from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November, held with Damansara Specialist Hospital and organised by Brandstorm Asia. DocTok Asia was there from start to finish as the official media partner, cameras rolling and microphones on.

We have covered a lot of health events. This one felt different, mostly because of the people who walked in.

A carnival built around the body

The floor was set up with around 14 to 15 booths, and each one focused on a different organ of the body. Instead of one big health talk that tries to cover everything, visitors could move from booth to booth and spend a few minutes on one part of the body at a time. It made health feel less like a lecture and more like exploring.

Many visitors carried stamp cards and collected a stamp at each booth they visited. By the afternoon you could spot families comparing cards and checking which booths they still had left.

Getting scanned and screened

A big reason people stopped was the chance to get scanned and screened on the spot. We saw visitors stepping onto a body composition scanner on Day 1, and on Day 3 there was a steady queue at the eye screening station. For many people, a mall on a weekend is the most convenient time to check in on their health, and it showed.

Big Questions, Expert Answers

The stage was where things got serious, in a good way. Under the banner "Big Questions? Expert Answers!", doctors from Damansara Specialist Hospital and KPJ Healthcare gave short talks across all three days and took questions from the floor.

On the Friday, Dr Gan Weh Loong opened with "Clear Vision for Life: 5 Eye Problems You Should Never Ignore", and the evening also covered heart health. Saturday brought talks on everyday allergies and on early recognition and support for children's development. Sunday included memory and brain health, "Don't Wait Until You're Sick: The Power of Prevention" with Dr Shaharudeen Kamaludeen, and "Her Health, Every Chapter." with Dr Nur Hafizah Amom.

What stood out for us was the questions. People asked about their parents, their kids and themselves. Some sat through two or three talks in a row.

Something for the little ones

Health events can be tough for parents with young children. Here the kids had their own space. There was a colouring corner where children sat with helpers, and a clown kept wandering through the crowd making balloon animals and balloon swords. More than a few parents got to listen to a talk while their kids were happily busy.

A word from Damansara Specialist Hospital

Mr Sughan Vijayan, Head of Business Growth and Marketing at Damansara Specialist Hospital, speaking to DocTok Asia at the carnival

DocTok Asia caught up with Mr Sughan Vijayan, Head of Business Growth and Marketing at Damansara Specialist Hospital, on the final day of the carnival.

"Healthy Vibes Carnival gave us a fantastic opportunity to reach people at the grassroots. Instead of waiting for patients to come to the hospital, our doctors could meet the public face to face, listen to their questions and talk about health in a simple, relaxed way. That is what community healthcare should feel like."

Why we were there

DocTok Asia exists to make good health information easier to find and easier to understand. Events like this are where that happens in real life, face to face, with doctors who are willing to answer a question properly. Being the official media partner meant we could bring a bit of the carnival to people who could not make it to Starling.

Thank you

A big thank you to Damansara Specialist Hospital and the doctors who gave their time on stage and at the booths, and to Brandstorm Asia for organising three full days that brought the community this close to their healthcare team. And to everyone who came, asked, got screened and collected their stamps: thank you for showing up for your health.
